Timeline for the Overseas Delivery option

The timeline for the Overseas Delivery is about three months, from order to pick-up. Return shipping of the Volvo is included in the order and in the pricing given here. (Take a look at the link to the left, "Trip Perks" to see the other benefits that Volvo is currently offering: provided flights, hotel stays, other benefits, etc.) Although I've seen Volvo's timeframe for this process as short as two months, it is prudent to plan to allow the three months.

In addition to this normal build-to-order method, Volvo has a current production line of "popularly requested" models and options -- about a hundred cars or so. If your selection of models is identical to one of these produced cars (call us for this availability), this timeline can be shortened, literally, to all-but immediately. So, in what's normally a three month process, this shortest-case scenario can be shortened to days. In short summary, you may either build one out specifically to your order, internal and external colors and options, etc. --  or you may choose one "ready to go". Please contact us for to discuss out these possibilities.

For the timeline for the normally produced build-to-order cars, this timing and procedure is as follows:

• Three months out
  Counseling with you, we will help you to select the model and options of your choice, preparing to write and place the order with Volvo's Overseas Delivery Department. We will then Federal Express to you the required paperwork for your signature. At this time, when remitting back the signed documents, you'll be required to submit a deposit of $2,000., which we forward to OSD.
  
  
• Two weeks later
  Volvo will send to you (and to us) a confirmation of your order, detailing out precisely the vehicle and set of options ordered. This is an opportunity for both of us to review the order to see that things are as they should be. Any additions should be made at this time. The order then progresses for your car's production.
  
  In the confirmation package, Volvo will also send you details of the travel offers and possibilities. At this time you would probably like to plan, and to firm up the details of your travel and various itineraries and plans.
  
  
• 30 days before you take delivery
  You make final arrangement and payment through us for the balance of your Volvo. We will be working with you in this area from early on and, besides any financing that may be available to you personally, you will also have the ability to finance the vehicle through Volvo Finance -- either in a purchase or in a lease plan.
  
  
• Three working days before departure to Europe
  Call or email the Reception Center at the factory (fdc@volvocars.com) to confirm your flight arrival. They will then prepare to pick you up by limo at the airport, and coordinate your visit for the factory delivery.

 

...As you enjoy your European trip, you will have the option of either driving the new Volvo, or continuing on with your travel plans without the car, allowing Volvo to begin the return shipment home. If you do choose to drive the Volvo, you'll have a number of cities throughout Europe where you would be able to drop the car for final shipment. (See the link for "Delivery Locations" to the left.)

About 30 days after you drop off the car for shipment, it will arrive at Port, here in the US, where we will clear it through Customs, and ship it to a location near you for final inspection and preparation for delivery. This final process will take about a week or so.
